From 6-11 February, AFS Thailand hosted the 2012 AFS World Congress at the Rama Gardens Hotel in Bangkok. With a theme of Sharpening Our Focus, plenary and small group breakout sessions focused on the topics of Volunteer Development, Intercultural Learning and Program Development.

As at all World Congresses, there was an Accountability Session for the network leadership as well as a Partner Poster Session. The 2012 World Congress marked the debut of Vincenzo Morlini as President and CEO of AFS International. Vincenzo's Presidential Statement, including new ideas on both growing traditional programs and new program development, was well received by delegates.

This Congress also featured a Volunteer Leadership Forum, bringing together members of the International Board of Trustees with Partner Chairs and Board Members from around the AFS Network to discuss issues of mutual concern. Significant time was also spent in Partner-to-Partner meetings.
