The Intercultural Communication Institute (ICI) runs the Summer Institute of Intercultural Communication (SIIC) each July in Portland, Oregon, USA, and they have just released the 2012 schedule! This is an amazing professional development opportunity for professionals or graduate students currently in or wanting to get into the intercultural field. SIIC takes place over three weeks and offers 1-day, 3-day and 5-day courses. For 2012, SIIC is offering 16 new workshops, in addition to the numerous workshops that are available every year. The SIIC faculty members offer the latest perspectives, resources, and approaches to intercultural education, training, research, and management.
AFS has been sending participants to SIIC for the last 10 years, and in 2011 we had 31 AFS volunteers and staff attending the SIIC workshops and we will soon be publishing here some of their SIIC-stories.
