On Saturday, the 18th of October, AFS Germany celebrates the 60th Anniversary of AFS Interkulturelle Begegnungen E.V. – exchanges within Germany and abroad. The evening pays tribute to the developing histories of Germany and partner countries over the past 60 years and to the tremendous cultural exchanges that those participating have had the privilege to experience. The event promises the intermingling of many Returnees and AFS representatives recounting their experiences then and now; all while being treated to a 90 minute stage show, buffets, bars, and a central dance floor. Former participants of 6 decades, AFS Germany’s volunteers, sponsors, friends and supporters are attending. This particular event in the Anniversary celebrations coincides with The AFS World Congress – the annual meeting of the global AFS leadership. At this year’s World Congress in Berlin, volunteer leaders and managers representing AFS partner organizations; more than 180 participants, gather to discuss common strategies together with the international administration and the international Board of Trustees.
