Past winners

AFS is one of the largest, strongest and most effective volunteer-based organizations in the world. We could not do all that we do for our program participants every day without your work and the work of other dedicated volunteers. Each year we celebrate the accomplishments of the AFS volunteers through the Galatti Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, named after one of our most visionary founders, Stephen Galatti.

The award is given every year to AFS volunteers who have performed extraordinary services for our organization over a sustained period of time. Since the Galatti Award was instituted in 1983, 49 exceptional volunteers have been selected to receive the most prestigious commendation conferred by the AFS Network on our volunteers.

We thank all past winners and honor them for their service and commitment to AFS with this on-line Gallery.

In Their Own Words

“When I get back to Peru, my life will be another reality. I’m going back with new beliefs and goals for success; and pleased of having gone through such an experience. I will apply all this with my family and friends. I’m going to be a volunteer for AFS in my city.”
