12/19/2006 - Holiday Message from AFS International
For many of us, this time of year is a time of joy, reflection, and family gatherings. As we celebrate these holidays we often wish that we were living in a more peaceful and harmonious world. But at AFS we do more than just wish for peace. All of us who work for this incredible organization, whether it may be as staff, volunteers, interns and in any other capacity, work together to create a more just and peaceful world, not only during these holidays, but all year long.
I recently delivered a message to our volunteers on International Volunteer Day, and I think a part of that message bears repeating. We are all different and have our different ways of going through our day and getting things done, and as a multicultural organization, we all have our particular holiday traditions. But there is a space in which we all come together, a space in which we all share the belief that the world can be a better place if we just try to listen and understand each other better, and that space is our AFS—Let’s continue to invite the world to join us there. May all of us at AFS and throughout the globe enjoy a peaceful holiday season and my best wishes for a happy and productive new year in 2007.
And again and again, thank you for all you have done for AFS this past year.
Warmest regards,
Francisco “Tachi” Cazal,
President, AFS International
