4/3/2008 - AFS Switzerland Achieves Official Quality Certificate

We are very happy that AFS Switzerland has been the first Swiss non-profit organization working in the field of intercultural education and youth exchange that has been SQS-certified according to Intermundo quality standards.

AFS been one of the key contributing organizations during the development phase of the certificate and is now the first among thirteen potential organizations that got qualified. In order to get certified a comprehensive checklist of criteria has to be fulfilled. Taking into consideration the “not for profit status” the selection process, information and preparation of participants, host families and natural families and furthermore issues like financial guidelines, contracts and quality management the certificate aims for high quality standards among organizations of youth exchange and intercultural education.

The certificate was handled over by the third party certifier SQS (Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems) and the president of INTERMUNDO (which is the Swiss umbrella association for all not for profit youth exchange organizations and the responsible body for the certificate) at the annual General Assembly of AFS Switzerland in Biel on the 29th of March 2008. Also the media followed this event.
