4/5/2005 - AFS Partner Director (Hong Kong) Honored with Prestigious Award

AFS Intercultural Exchanges Hong Kong recently announced that their Partner Director, Tara Hofmann was named one of Hong Kong’s outstanding Women Leaders. The recognition honors and celebrates the achievements of women who have made significant contributions to Hong Kong in their professions. Tara has been recognized for her dedication to the local community and her long-standing commitment to AFS which provides a valuable contribution to the development of young people

Tara was chosen for this honor in the not-for-profit category. Twenty-two Women Leaders were honored by Community Business, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to lead, inspire and support businesses to continually improve their positive impact on people and communities.

In addition to this recognition in the form of an award, British Petroleum (BP) sponsored Community Business’ production of a publication recognizing the valuable contributions these women have made to Hong Kong. BP feels strongly that today’s women leaders make an ever-increasing and important contribution to the development of the world’s economic, political and social life. They consider the publication an important step towards enhancing an understanding of Women Leaders in Asia, particularly in Hong Kong. The publication entitled “Women Leaders in Hong Kong, Insights into their Workplace Experiences” is available at the Community Business web site, www.communitybusiness.org.hk

The recognition of the AFS Partner Director in Hong Kong has been an excellent means to raise the profile of AFS among the public and private sectors. Congratulations to Tara and to AFS Intercultural Exchanges in Hong Kong!
