8/1/2006 - The 2006 AFS Galatti Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service
Today we are launching the 2006 AFS Galatti Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. This year we have changed the nomination process to make it possible for many more volunteers around the world to participate. On-line nomination process will be open from August 1 through September 30, 2006.
We have created a special section on our website (www.afs.org/galattiaward) for this year’s Galatti Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service nominations, which will allow volunteers around the world to nominate other volunteers.
We are also introducing a new statue (illustration above) to go with the award. It was inspired by the Empathy statue given to AFS by Jara Moserova, one of our first program participants. Jara, who passed away recently, was a lifelong supporter of AFS and embodied the ideals, aspirations and spirit of AFS. In light of the 60th Anniversary celebrations next year, AFS International will arrange and cover all travel, accommodation and meals expenses of the one or two international winners for a week, to receive this award in New York during the 2007 AFS World Congress (likely to take place in late October and/or early November 2007).
Please contact AFS International if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you,
AFS International
