6/6/2008 - AFS Life Trustee Receives Cassandra Pyle Award from NAFSA

On Tuesday, May 27, Ward Chamberlin, an AFS Life Trustee was presented with the Cassandra Pyle Award for Leadership and Collaboration in International Education and Exchange for his distinguished service in the cause for international education. Through his work with AFS, Mr. Chamberlin has worked tirelessly to further the mission of AFS and to bring together the world’s people through intercultural exchanges.

Chamberlin received the award at the opening plenary of the NAFSA: Association of International Educators annual conference in Washington, DC, which was attended by over 9,200 people. The ballroom at the Washington Convention center could not hold all the delegates to the conference, and the latecomers were directed to the overflow rooms where Ward’s message about the dream of the American Field Service ambulance drivers was broadcast live. The Cassandra Pyle Award each year honors the contributions of a senior international educator to global international exchange.
