12/8/2006 - The Power of International Exchange

AFS intercultural education programs truly change people’s lives and in many instances offer them the opportunity to acquire a second home and a second family far away from their home countries. This aspect of the AFS experience came to life at the Minnesota International Center, when it hosted a Public Forum at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs this past November 29, 2006. The theme for the forum was “The Power of International Exchange.” Francisco Cazal, the President and CEO of AFS International and Gerhard Pfanzelter, the Austrian Ambassador to the United Nations were both AFS participants who spent their exchange year in Minnesota and were “coming home” to participate in the forum. They spoke to Tom Crann, host of All Things Considered on Minnesota Public Radio.
